Fitness has given me so much in life, so I’m giving back the best way I know how: with design. By taking the thing I’m good at and I’m combining it with my passion, this never feels like a job to me.

Fasting is my nightmare. I get asked all the time Fasting is my nightmare. I get asked all the time how I feel about intermittent fasting, so here’s the truth. It can be absolutely amazing. I know that there are plenty of people out there who swear by it. It can help people lose weight and can also help them to feel great overall. But for me, it’s awful. If I skip just one meal, I get SO cranky. The hanger is very, very real. When I wake up, I want breakfast. I want to snack before bed. I just love eating. So when intermittent fasting first became popular, I gave it a try…and immediately felt awful. All I could think about all day was food. The thing with intermittent fasting is that it is just one of many different dieting methods out there. It’s really a fancy way of switching up your meal timing, nothing more. And it is certainly not for everybody. By fasting and then eating in a smaller window of time, it’s harder to consume as many calories. So, intermittent fasting typically leads to a reduced caloric intake overall. There’s no magic beyond that. If you try fasting and you feel great, then keep at it. There can definitely be benefits to it. But if fasting makes you feel terrible, there’s no reason to force yourself to do it! You don’t need to over-indulge to enjoy ice cream. By all means, go for the large Blizzard if you’re feeling adventurous. But if you’re in the mood for ice cream, you don’t have to consume 1,000 calories worth. You can very much enjoy ice cream AND stay on track towards your goals. Even if those goals revolve around weight loss! Instead of fighting that ice cream craving for months, what would happen if you allowed yourself to enjoy a cone every once in a while? Not only will you actually get to enjoy some ice cream, but that craving will not build to an uncontrollable level where you feel like you NEED that giant Blizzard. At just over 200 calories (or 300 if you go with a medium cone) you can very easily fit an ice cream cone into your day without worry. Even if your goal is to be in a caloric deficit overall, you can find the room for 200 calories worth of delicious in your day. 
It’s not a bad thing to have a craving. Sometimes you just want something sweet and delicious- ice cream checks those boxes. If you want ice cream sometimes, don’t tell yourself that it is off limits. There are plenty of options out there that don’t equate to 1,000+ calories! Remember, moderation is always key.
